Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Constancy (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information in the Constancy Android app (package me.constancy.app) and on https://constancy.me. Contact us at hello@constancy.me.
1. Summary
- Free use is local-first: habit and check-in data stay on your device unless you use Premium cloud sync while signed in.
- If you create an account, we process account identifiers (email and/or Google Sign-In).
- Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Google Play and RevenueCat.
- Optional AI habit suggestions may send prompt or goal text to a Cloud Function that uses Google Gemini.
- You can delete your account and associated cloud data in-app via Profile → Delete account & data.
2. Information we collect
Account information
If you sign in, we collect account data such as your email address and authentication identifiers from email/password or Google Sign-In. Social media links on our website are for following Constancy only — they are not used to log in to the app.
Habit and check-in data
Habits, check-ins, streaks, and related settings you create are stored locally on your device for free users. If you are a Premium subscriber and signed in, that habit and check-in data may be synced to our cloud backend (Firebase / Firestore) so it can restore across devices.
Purchases and subscriptions
Premium subscriptions are sold through Google Play. We and our subscription partner RevenueCat process purchase and entitlement status (for example, whether Premium is active, product identifiers, and renewal-related metadata). We do not receive your full payment card details; Google Play processes payments.
AI suggestion inputs
If you use AI habit suggestions (Premium; limited to 10 generations per calendar month), optional prompt or goal text you provide may be sent to our Cloud Function and processed by Google Gemini to generate suggestions. We do not promise that your prompts will or will not be used to train third-party models; processing is subject to Google’s terms and practices for the Gemini API we use.
Notifications
Premium reminders use local device notifications. If you enable them, the app may request notification permission on Android. Reminder scheduling happens on your device; Constancy v1 does not require Firebase Cloud Messaging for habit reminders.
Diagnostics
We do not currently run a third-party analytics SDK on the marketing site. The app may later collect optional crash or diagnostic logs to improve stability. If we add analytics or crash reporting, we will update this policy.
Website
Our static website may receive standard server or hosting logs (such as IP address, user agent, and requested URL) from our hosting provider. We do not use those logs to build marketing profiles.
3. How we use information
- Provide and sync the app experience you choose (local or Premium cloud).
- Authenticate your account and restore Premium entitlements.
- Generate AI habit suggestions when you request them.
- Respond to support requests sent to hello@constancy.me.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect against abuse.
4. Legal bases (where applicable)
Where required (for example under GDPR-style rules), we process data to perform our contract with you (providing the app and Premium features), with your consent (such as optional notifications or AI prompts), and for legitimate interests such as securing the service and improving reliability — balanced against your rights.
5. Third parties
Depending on features you use, data may be processed by:
- Google — Sign-In / Auth, Google Play Billing, Gemini API, Firebase services.
- RevenueCat — subscription entitlement management.
- Our hosting provider for constancy.me (static site / email).
Those providers process data under their own privacy policies and our configuration of their services.
6. Retention
Local data remains on your device until you clear app data or uninstall. Cloud account and synced habit data are retained while your account exists and for a reasonable period needed to complete deletion requests or legal obligations. Purchase records may be retained as required by Google Play, tax, or accounting rules.
7. Your choices and deletion
You can sign out, stop using Premium features, revoke notification permission in system settings, and delete your account and associated cloud data from Profile → Delete account & data in the app. You may also email hello@constancy.me for help with deletion or privacy questions.
8. Children
Constancy is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
9. Security
We use industry-standard provider controls (such as encrypted transport and authenticated cloud access) to protect synced data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please protect your device and account credentials.
10. International processing
Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own (including where Google and RevenueCat operate). Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards offered by those providers.
11. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app or site after updates means you acknowledge the revised policy.
